Emily Gilhome - Director

In 2007, Emily created  Oscar Production Company in the interest of supporting local artists. Emily is a Creative Producer, Director and Arts Manager with experience spanning over 15 years. She has worked on a range of international and local projects including Major Events, Festivals, Theatre, Dance, Comedy, Youth and Cabaret.

As a Producer, Emily has curated projects for Brisbane Festival, QLD Cabaret Festival, MELT Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Noosa LongWeekend, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and most recently as Operations Manager for CREATIVE GENERATION - QLD’s largest annual youth arena production at BRISBANE CONVENTION AND EXHIBITION CENTRE.

With Oscar Production Company, Emily has produced and directed several theatre projects, including the highly successful gender-bent cabaret BOY&GIRL (returning for a fifth season to THE TIVOLI in 2018), QLD premiere productions of SPRING AWAKENING (QPAC), [TITLE OF SHOW] (BRISBANE POWERHOUSE) and NEXT TO NORMAL (QPAC). Other producing credits include THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE (THE ROUNDHOUSE THEATRE), THE LAST FIVE YEARS (JWCOCA), TWIST&TURN (LIGHTSPACE) as well as other live music, cabaret and dance events in commercial and warehouse venues throughout Brisbane.

Emily’s creative interest is balanced by a strong commercial focus with studies in Finance, Business Management and as an Academic Tutor and Lecturer in Entertainment Industries at QUT.

Dan Venz - Creative

Dan Venz is a professional performer & choreographer specialising in cabaret, musical theatre, commercial and children's entertainment.

Beginning his professional career with Raw Dance Company, Dan toured Australia as a dancer in URBAN WONDERLAND. Since then, his onstage credits include SPRING AWAKENING (QPAC), YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN (Linus), WIZARD OF OZ (QPAC), THE NEVERENDING STORY (QPAC), CATS (BCEC), SPAMALOT, PIRATES OF PENZANCE (QPAC), HAIRSPRAY AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL ARENA TOUR, GREASE ARENA EXPERIENCE national tour, WÜRST Series, and the BOY&GIRL cabaret series (BRISBANE POWERHOUSE & THE TIVOLI). 

As a commercial and musical theatre choreographer, Dan has worked on major projects locally and internationally, choreographing and performing with Pen2Stage, in shows including ALICE IN WONDERLAND, THE JUNGLE BOOK, CINDERELLA, THE LITTLE MERMAID and for NICKELODEON and Nick Jr. Other credits include choreography of PIRATES OF PENZANCE and GREASE ARENA EXPERIENCE for Harvest Rain, as well as FOOTLOOSE, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, LEGALLY BLONDE and URINETOWN for the BAMT program, CARRIE the musical, for Wax Lyrical Productions and A VERY NAUGHTY CHRISTMAS for Understudy Productions.

Dan is a co-creative, performer and choreographer in the Oscar Production Company BOY&GIRL series and is the company's lead choreographer for all corporate and commercial projects.

Joel Devereux - Design

Joel Devereux is a Brisbane-based photographer, burlesque & drag producer specialising in creative portraiture and alternative makeup. Joel's work has been exhibited across Australia and he has curated photography and design projects for major festivals, theatre, events, commercial and individual clients.

Joel has photographed a number of personalities and celebrities, including; Paris Hilton, Mel B, Rhonda Burchmore, Olympian Matthew Mitcham, Ryan Greasley, Brendan Maclean, DJ Havana Brown, The Veronicas, The Naked Magicians, Josh Wade, stars from RuPaul's Drag Race, Duo-RAW, and many more. In 2015, Joel launched his first solo exhibition and book, HYDRA, at the Brisbane Powerhouse as part of the first MELT Queer Arts Festival. His extended series ‘#FOODP*RN' launched as a book and exhibition as part of the third annual MELT Queer Arts festival (BRISBANE POWERHOUSE, 2017) and in January 2017 Joel launched his open-ended series DVRX, a weekly digital ebook focussing on the human form and modern notions of masculinity.

As a Producer, Joel co-created the successful Vanguard Burlesque series including theatre seasons at Wonderland Festival (2016 & 2017, BRISBANE POWERHOUSE) and in 2018 launched RUMBLE, an underground game show featuring local performance artists in improvisation battles. Joel was awarded the Queen's Ball Artist of the Year award in 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 and is currently working as a freelance photographer and producer full time in Brisbane.

Joel is the creative designer on Oscar Production Company's  BOY&GIRL series and is the lead design consultant on all projects.

Claire Walters - Music

Claire Walters (aka Franky Smart) has been singing professionally since the age of 16, making her stage debut in the GFO national tour of THE WIZARD OF OZ alongside Bert Newton, Patti Newton, Philip Gould, Nikki Webster and Doug Parkinson.

As a graduate of the QLD Conservatorium of Music, Claire holds a bachelor of Music majoring in Jazz Vocals and was a finalist in the Generations In Jazz, James Morrison Vocal Scholarship held in Mt Gambier. She has sung in clubs all over the world including:

BIRDLAND - New York City, THE GREEN MILL - Chicago, BRISBANE ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE - Pre Show VIP for Michael Buble and Naturally 7, BRISBANE POWERHOUSE -  BOY&GIRL & #LIKEMARIAH - Melt Festival, HONG KONG UDDERBELLY - With Tom Thum and Jamie MacDowell, TARANAKI ARTS FESTIVAL, ADELAIDE FRINGE FEST, MANIFEST FESTIVAL, REGIONAL FLAVOURS - Southbank, QLD, BRISBANE JAZZ CLUB, BRISBANE CABARET FESTIVAL - "Seven on Sinatra", HOTEL GRAND CHANCELLOR - AMHOIC, THE TIVOLI, OLD MUSEUM BUILDING - CGEN State School On Stage Finals - Master of Ceremonies.

Claire has commenced working on her own music under the name of 'Franky Smart" and will be releasing her own music shortly.

Claire is the music consultant for Oscar Production Company and is a regular performer and producer specialising in jazz, funk, soul and disco bands for various festivals, clubs, corporate and commercial clients locally and overseas.
